The Empowered Workforce: A Human-Centric Approach to the Employee Experience & Retention – October Workshop

Zoom check-ins, weekly all-hands, formalized & digitized HR processes… Between today’s remote environments and the hustle and bustle of trying to stay on top of everything, it can be easy to gloss over what makes a job worthwhile for the employee. Not only that, but workers say that flexibility is often about how they feel, not just about where they are when it comes to working.

Join senior leaders from Shopify, Kimberley Mullins, and Natalie Taylor, as they dive into:

⎼ What is and isn’t working about approaches to remote work
⎼ Why are employees frustrated with the current way we work
⎼ How to balance the needs and expectations of employees
⎼ How to take care of yourself as a leader of remote teams

About Kimberley Mullins

Kimberley is a qualitative researcher, educator, storyteller, psychology and behavior nerd, and former professional dancer. She spent 7 years working in government and academia before joining the private sector in 2010. Since then, she has held various senior roles with several of Canada’s largest companies, typically in areas related to leadership, organizational effectiveness and development, and diversity and inclusion. Kimberley holds a BA (Hons) and a Ph.D. (leadership communication and group dynamics) from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, UK. She has also studied cognitive and business psychology, law, performativity, and nonverbal communication network University in Toronto, the University of London in the UK, and the PearsonPeacekeeping Centre of Canada, and is finishing up an M.Sc (Business Psychology) at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. Her research on leadership behavior, culture, and inclusion has appeared in both academic and popular press, and she has been tapped as an expert consultant and speaker on these topics for organizations, conferences, and television documentaries. Equally important to her is the time she spends volunteering to help charities and community-based non-profits build up their leadership skills and empower their teams and clients.
